Unless you were lucky enough to inherit a fortune, you probably work to earn a living. You might think that everyone feels they don’t make enough money, but in the case of many of my clients it turned out to be true! Why weren’t they being paid well enough for what they do, or why can’t they find a job that pays well enough for their skill set? Surprisingly, many of them were unconsciously sabotaging themselves. No matter what they intended to do consciously, they found themselves having distorted thinking, emotional reactions or doing behaviors that not only didn’t serve them but actually hurt them!

Many of these sabotage patterns created irrational shame or fear about success, jealousy, “going all out,” and work itself that caused them to hold back. These patterns (some of which are phobias) range in emotional intensity from total panic to such mild anxiety that people may not even know that what they are experiencing is irrational! Even mild irrational fear and shame can create an avoidance reaction or confusion that drains energy and suppresses motivation, enthusiasm, and confidence. People do not perform at their best, are afraid to ask for the salary they want, are afraid to look for a better job, and feel dissatisfied and unfulfilled.

Here are a few of the reactions I’ve seen that interfere with making money:

I’m afraid to be successful because:

  • someone will take it away from me.
  • women/people will reject me.
  • I’ll be expected to succeed again and I’ll be under constant pressure
  • I’ll be expected to top my last performance, and I’ll fail.

I’m afraid people will be jealous of me and:

  • want to destroy me.
  • will reject me.
  • it will tear my family apart.

I’m afraid to go all out because:

  • I’ll be unpopular.
  • I’ll physically get hurt, or hurt someone else (athlete).

Fears about work:

  • I’m afraid to be ambitious because I’ll be swallowed up in my work and lose my (quality of) life.
  • I’m ashamed to earn a living using my talents because they are a gift from God and I should share them with everyone for free.
  • I’m afraid to have people pay me because then I’ll have to meet my commitments and be trapped in slavery to them.
  • I’m worthless and can’t compete because… They can get someone else to do the job better (or more cheaply).
  • I have to have a job or career that someone else expects or they won’t love me and will abandon me.

I believe that when people make a good living using their best talents and doing what they love, work becomes fun, satisfying and worthwhile. When we treat people with Healing from the Body Level Up™ methodology to clear unconscious self-sabotage patterns around work and money, they make more money and are happier with their work.

Success Stories

Sally is a very talented publicist who ran her own business and then burned out. Unable to make ends meet, she rented her house to a tenant (who was a nightmare), and moved into a small apartment that she couldn’t afford to rent. After a few HBLU™ sessions, Sally got another tenant, sent out a marketing letter to her old clients, raised her prices, and picked up 3 new contracts.

Jack is a college football player who came from a broken home shattered by domestic violence. I met Jack second semester of his senior year of high school. He was about to flunk out and lose his college scholarship because he got into trouble with girls, drugs, compulsive lying, bad attitude towards his teachers and coaches, and refusal to do his homework. After a few short months of treatment with HBLU™, Jack graduated high school, but didn’t play football well enough to keep his scholarship. After another few months of treatment, Jack improved his game and his grades well enough to get a scholarship at another school, is now a leader on his team, and hopes to play professional football when he graduates.

Mary is a talented yoga teacher who has never been able to earn a good living. After only one HBLU™ session, Mary found an additional yoga teaching opportunity and asked a reasonable fee for her services. When the director of the center balked, Mary informed her that she had other opportunities (instead of backing down on her salary demands as she had always done in the past). Within 3 hours, the director got back to her with a contract.

John is a marketing executive at a high tech company. Over the years, he has struggled with ADD and low self-esteem. He lost several jobs, each time finding a new job at a lower salary. After a few months of HBLU™ sessions, he can focus his attention better, he likes being busy at work, and he just got a raise.
