It is the year 2000! Y2K disasters did not happen. Terrorist attacks did not happen. On New Year’s eve and day everyone pretty much behaved themselves. These happy events occurred because people were forewarned and took thoughtful, appropriate, and responsible action at both an individual and community level to prevent disaster. Many people worked hard to correct Y2K errors. Extra police were on duty around the world on New Year’s eve and day. In Boston, the subway system ran all night long for the first time in history and was free after 8:00 P.M. so that revelers could get home safely! Television broadcast the joyous and lavish celebrations throughout the world (focusing on the positive for a change). I felt the whole world working together for the benefit of mankind and I was deeply moved. This is what we are truly capable of. May this level of consciousness, shared responsibility and connection continue throughout the year and into the future.
